Promoting Community Based Sustainable Soil Management Practices for Increasing Agriculture Productivity and minimizing Poverty

The project was carried out in financial assistance of Helvetas/ Swiss Development Cooperation/ Sustainable Soil Management Program (SDC/SSMP) in 10 VDCs of Sindhupalchowk from April, 1999 to December, 2010. Farmers to Farmers Program

This project was carried out from January 2002 to April 2010 in 20 VDCs of Sindhupalchowk. The project was financially supported by SDC/ Helvetas/ SSMP. The project was focused on mobilization of farmers in agriculture development, income generating activities and for the development of markets for selling agricultural products. Farmer groups were also supported in formation of cooperatives and provided platforms for experience sharing through field visits, group interaction and networking of farmers' group to promote farmers' experience in agriculture development activities at community level.

Improving Health, Hygiene and Sanitation for Women and Children of Communities for Healthy Living

This project was launched in Sipapokhare and Badegaun VDCs of Sindhupalchowk from January 2008 to December 2011 under the financial support of German Embassy in Nepal through Small Grants Program. Following the need identification and analysis of hygiene and sanitation facilities, women groups were formed and trained for building capacity on health, hygiene and sanitation promotion. A total of 105 toilets and 120 improved cooking stoves were constructed in households of most deprived and disadvantaged communities. Coordination and cooperation was done with VDCs

Small Irrigation Program

This project was implemented in Sipapokhare, Kunchowk, Bhimtar, Nawalpur, Bandegaun, Sipalkavre and Melamchi VDCs of Sindhupalchowk District from July 2004 to September 2006. This program was supported by District Agriculture Office (DADO) and Sustainable Soil Management Program (SSMP), Sindhupalchowk. Farmer's groups were formed and mobilized for need identification of irrigation facilities to increase agriculture productivity. Users' committees were formed and irrigation canal was constructed.

Human Rights and Peace Building Program

In support of Sustainable Peace Development Initiative (SPDI) and UNDP Nepal, this project was carried out in 5 conflict affected VDCs of Sindhupalchowk from January, 2000 to April, 2001. Community organizations were formed and mobilized to identify the conflict affected groups and to secure their human rights through income generating opportunities, advocacy and lobbying with government line agencies. Capacity building training was given to the targeted groups on human rights and good governance, peace and democracy, gender and social inclusion and social mobilization. Implementation of Risk Mitigation and Preparedness Measures of Hydro Meteorology Iinduced Disasters and Local Administration level in Sindhupalchowk District
