Improving Economics of Blacksmiths community through improving traditional Charcoal Making Practices

This project was implemented on Sipapokhare, Bhotsipa and Kunchowk VDCs of Sindhuplachowk from October, 2008 to June, 2010 under the support of GEF/ SGP/ UNDP, Nepal. Community based organizations of Blacksmith communities are formed and mobilized for sensitization, need identification and proper utilization of resources for improving socio-economic condition of Blacksmith communities. Capacity Building training was also given on improved charcoal making process through improved kiln method, social mobilization, saving and credit mobilization, gender and social inclusion, institutional building and leadership development and enterprise development activities. The blacksmith communities were also facilitated for improving their charcoal making practices for generating income and employment opportunities and environment and bio-diversity conservation
