Biomass Energy Support Component of Improved Cooking Stoves

This project has been launched in July 2002 in Sindhupalchowk and is currently working in 30 VDCs. The project is financial supported by Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC) & Energy Support Assistant Program (ESAP). Under this project the existing community organizations, Saving and Credit groups, Forest users groups, women groups, cooperatives and farmers are mobilized for awareness generation and sensitization of need of improved cooking stove (ICS) promotion in terms of fuel wood saving, gender empowerment, time saving, health and hygiene. Local promoters have been selected and trainings are provided to build their capacity as resource person for ICS construction, dissemination, promotion and management. Regular monitoring is carried out for quality assurance.
